On January 12, 2005, users of the MACK Electronic Information System reported that the table of contents no longer displayed in the MACK XML Document Viewer. Instead, they saw only a blank gray area where the table of contents previously had been displayed.
Within a matter of days, Mack Trucks resolved the issue by providing a downloadable fix for a user's PC. This fix restored the functionality of the Mack EIS Document table of contents.
On June 15, 2005, a user reported a new problem with the Document Viewer: clicking on an entry in the table of contents caused the desired page to appear in the right pane of the the Document Viewer but also caused the table of contents in the left pane to disappear.
This user had just recently downloaded and installed the latest Microsoft® security updates prior to encountering this new problem.

The solution detailed below relies upon recording within the PC's registry those web site URLs that are allowed to use the Microsoft® HTML Help component (HHCTRL.OCX). The new URL has been added to the list of web sites allowed to use HHCTRL.OCX.
You will need to download and run the new version of the AllowReg2.reg file to udpate your PC's registry settings.
The MACK XML Document Viewer uses the Microsoft® HTML Help component (HHCTRL.OCX) for its Table-of-Contents functionality.
On January 11, 2005, Microsoft® resolved a possible Windows security problem, which is described in Microsoft® Security Bulletin MS05-001. With this security patch Microsoft® prevented the use of the HTML Help component within a web application.
On June 14, 2005, Microsoft® resolved another possible Windows security problem, which is described in Microsoft® Security Bulletin MS05-026. With this security patch Microsoft® disabled the ability of the HTML Help component to load a web page to another frame within a web application.
Please Note: The MACK Service Information CDs (the Quarterly CDs) are not affected by these Microsoft® Security Updates. You are not required to make any changes in order to use the Quarterly CDs.
Microsoft® has provided a means for administrators to re-enable HTML Help components for business-critical web applications, as described in Microsoft® Technet KnowledgeBase Articles 892675 and 896905. The solution described below specifically re-enables HTML Help components for the MACK EIS web application and the MACK Internet Publications web application.
Please Note: For Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003, you must either have administrator rights on your PC or have been granted access rights by your PC administrator before you can modify your PC's registry.
Warning! The steps described below are designed to modify your PC's registry without having to use Registry Editor. Do not attempt to use Registry Editor to make these changes directly. If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. MACK Trucks, Inc. cannot guarantee that you can solve problems from using Registry Editor incorrectly.
If, when using the MACK EIS web application, you are unable to view the Table of Contents or the Table of Contents disappears after you click on one of its options, you can fix the problem by taking the following steps:
| (1) | Save the file AllowHHC2.reg to your PC's desktop by clicking here. Depending on your Windows version and Internet Explorer version, you will be prompted to confirm this action. |
| (2) | If you are either unable or reluctant to download
this file to your PC, you can instead copy and paste the following lines into

| (3) | Once the file AllowHHC2.reg exists on your desktop, double-click it to add the new registry entries to your PC. |
Please Note: The file AllowHHC2.reg should resolve the issues created by both Microsoft® Security Updates (MS05-001 and MS05-026).
